The Ten Gods, translated carefully
The Ten Gods compare each stem with the Day Master through phase and polarity relationships. “Gods” is a conventional English label; these are symbolic roles, not literal deities.

Independence and peers. Friend energy emphasizes self-direction, equal partnerships, confidence, and the need to distinguish cooperation from competition.
劫财
Rob Wealth / Companion
Networks and shared resources. Companion energy can increase courage and social momentum while also asking for clearer boundaries around time, credit, and money.
食神
Eating God / Creative Expression
Creative output and ease. Creative Expression favors making, teaching, enjoyment, and work that becomes stronger through a natural rhythm rather than constant force.
伤官
Hurting Officer / Challenging Expression
Original voice and challenge. Challenging Expression highlights candor, invention, critique, and the tension between personal truth and established expectations.
偏财
Indirect Wealth / Opportunity Wealth
Opportunity and enterprise. Opportunity Wealth is associated with flexible resource use, markets, networks, initiative, and the discipline to separate possibility from distraction.

Direct Wealth / Structured Wealth
Stewardship and tangible value. Structured Wealth favors planning, accountability, practical value, and the patient conversion of effort into dependable results.
七杀
Seven Killings / Pressure & Drive
Pressure, courage, and decisive action. Pressure & Drive can sharpen leadership and resilience. Its lesson is to use urgency deliberately rather than letting every challenge become a battle.
正官
Direct Officer / Order & Responsibility
Responsibility and order. Order & Responsibility emphasizes standards, role clarity, trust, and the ability to work within a structure without losing judgment.
偏印
Indirect Resource / Intuitive Resource
Intuition and unconventional learning. Intuitive Resource favors pattern recognition, specialized knowledge, independent study, and insight that may arrive before a complete explanation.
正印
Direct Resource / Supportive Resource
Learning and support. Supportive Resource favors study, mentoring, credentials, protection, and the capacity to receive help rather than proving everything alone.
What the names do not mean
Wealth is not a promise of money.
Officer is not a guaranteed job title. Seven Killings is not a prediction of violence. Resource is not a medical or educational diagnosis. Each label describes a traditional relationship to the Day Master that must be read in chart context.
