Twelve situational questions ask about first responses to ambiguity, collaboration, conflict, planning, recovery, and change. Options are written to avoid making one pattern sound more desirable than another.
Transparent by design
Methodology
Energy Archetype combines an original self-report questionnaire with an editorial interpretation inspired by the Five Phases. The current quiz does not calculate a BaZi chart or infer personality from birth data.
Pattern scoring
Every selected option assigns weight to one primary pattern and, for several answers, a smaller weight to a related supporting pattern. The score is calculated only in the browser.
Interpretation
The highest score becomes the primary result and the second-highest becomes the supporting result. The report describes balanced contribution, possible pressure response, and reflection practices.
Limits before conclusions
The framework does not measure a clinical trait, establish causation, predict behavior, or validate traditional cosmology through modern psychology. It is useful only as far as it supports honest observation.

The public scoring table is embedded in the quiz script. Each answer contributes two points to its main archetype and zero or one point to a related pattern. No demographic, browsing, or account information is added.

Five Phases is not a modern personality test
Wu Xing is a relational model with long and varied histories in Chinese thought. Translating Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water into contemporary archetype language is an editorial act. We do not claim that the five website profiles reproduce every traditional school or that they are scientifically equivalent to Jungian psychology.
We use “inspired by” deliberately. Readers who want traditional chart interpretation should consult qualified sources and compare different schools rather than treating this website as an authority over the tradition.
Future calculation standard
True solar time will not be a black box.
If a birth-time tool is added, we will document coordinate resolution, historical time-zone data, daylight-saving handling, longitude correction, equation-of-time implementation, calendar boundaries, and uncertainty.
Current status
No public Energy Archetype result is currently derived from birth date, birth time, birthplace, BaZi, or true solar time.
